Why support locally owned, independent businesses?
Economic vitality
Each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns at least 3 times more money to our local economy than one spent at a chain - a benefit we all can bank on.
Giving back
Local charities, clubs and events would be lost without our independent businesses. Indies donate more than twice as much per sales dollar than chains do.
Protect our environment
Independent, community-serving businesses are people-sized. They consume less land, carry more locally-made products, locate closer to residents and create less traffic and air pollution.
Lower taxes
Local businesses put less demand on local roads, sewers, and traffic and safety services than big box stores. They generate more tax revenue per sales dollar, helping keep your taxes lower.
Character and community
Building Healthy independent businesses give our community its one-of-kind personality. Through the causal encounters you enjoy at these neighborhood businesses and the public spaces around them, relationships are built and a sense of local cohesiveness is established. They're the ultimate social networking sites!
